About me

Why I'm coaching and not consulting
After more than 30 years in the customer experience and loyalty space, I've transitioned from consulting to coaching because I believe the real value comes from empowering individuals to unlock their own potential. As a coach, my role isn't to do the work for you—it's to help you develop and expand the skills and insights needed to navigate business challenges, make informed decisions, and grow in your career.
Coaching is about teaching, guiding, and providing the guardrails that help you avoid common pitfalls, while allowing you to discover your own solutions and insights. Unlike consulting, where the focus is on doing the thinking and then delivering recommendations, coaching is about helping you implement and operationalize strategies within your organization, so you not only understand the "what" but also the "how". I have worked with executives in every vertical market and at all levels of the organization to shape their brands into customer-centric powerhouses, and I'm here to help you do the same.

Where it started
Over the years, I've witnessed the shift from a product-centric market to one focused on the consumer. Early in my career as a commercial photographer, I captured products to excite consumers, working with major brands like Case IH, Miller Brewing, and SC Johnson. But it was during my time at Maritz, where I moved from marketing services to designing employee and consumer loyalty programs, that I truly became fascinated with human behavior and consumer motivation.

What experience has taught me
In the late 1980s, as loyalty programs gained traction, I designed my first program for Norwest Card Services, marking the beginning of my deep dive into consumer loyalty. This experience ignited my passion for understanding and building stronger customer relationships, leading me to join Frequency Marketing, Inc. (FMI) in 1998. There, I worked on a wide range of loyalty programs for companies like Citi and Best Buy, helping them build customer loyalty with technology and data.
By 2004, when Alliance Data Systems acquired Epsilon, I was part of a rapidly growing loyalty operation that supported over 50 brands. As loyalty marketing evolved with digital technology, I saw firsthand how consumer data became the key to connecting with customers on a deeper level. Over the next decade, I consulted with hundreds of executives, helping them maximize the value of loyalty and build more meaningful, personalized consumer relationships.
